2K Games has appointed Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to direct the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the forthcoming third-person action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Management Change Follows Poor Reception
Brinkman takes on the role of studio head at 31st Union following the departure of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming early showing last autumn.
On Wednesday, the company's top executive David Ismailer notified team members about this strategic move through an internal memo, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had indicated the need for a more defined direction.
The president stated that the team is now overhauling the project with a renewed approach, aiming to address community desires.
Trend of Strategic Hires
The news mirrors a comparable move taken by the publisher in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Given your hard work and adaptability, particularly over the past twelve months, you consistently demonstrate that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s the game demo was informative. It validated the potential of a action-packed game but told us we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the requirement for a clearer identity.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve come. You took the criticism to mind and revamped Project ETHOS with a renewed goal - one that’s positioned to fulfill its potential to our fans.
The belief in this project increases every day. To boost the outstanding progress you’ve made, I am thrilled to welcome the new hire as the incoming Studio Head of 31st Union. Following a period of discussions, Ben comes aboard us on the specified date.
Ben’s management and background in the competitive gaming field is considerable, having devoted the past decade and a half developing and managing some of the most recognizable franchises in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and most recently, the battle royale hit.

Experience of the Incoming Leader
The appointee currently holds the position of executive producer and head of production at the renowned studio for their flagship title. He earlier was employed at major gaming companies in various development positions on the Call of Duty games, and, earlier in his career, had assignments at 2K and Electronic Arts.

The upcoming game was announced in last year together with a public demo. Then, the developers portrayed the game as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective roguelike hero shooter and an exciting advancement on the category."
