Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has endured a torrid period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his ability to play at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
